International Workshop on Building Collaboration in Biodiversity Informatics

Welcome to The Workshop!

In order to develop more collaborations between Indonesian and PRAGMA researchers, the Bogor Agricultural University together with PRAGMA and University of Indonesia are hosting a three days Mini-PRAGMA International Workshop.Day 1 (5 Oct 2015): International Workshop. The workshop will present the current works of PRAGMA member, University of Paris Diderot, The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, and Indonesian researcher from IPB, UI and LIPI for further potential collaboration in Biodiversity Informatics. The workshop will be a mix of presentations and discussions. This workshop should be of interest to students, lecturers, and researchers in computer science, agriculture, biology, and life sciences. The workshop will be held in Andi Hakim Nasution Auditorium, IPB, Dramaga, Bogor

Day 2 (6 Oct 2015): PRAGMA Bio-Data Carpentry — Tutorial and Training. Day 2 is designed for students and researchers who are interested in managing biodiversity data, especially geospatial data, and modeling species distribution with Lifemapper. We will introduce Data and Software Carpentry methods that help build and share knowledge and technical skills among a diverse group of participants with backgrounds in biology and computer science.  This session is designed to enable collaborative work with geospatial data, GIS, and for modeling species distributions. This tutorial will be held in Dept of Computer Science, IPB.

Day 3 (7 Oct 2015): Tutorial and Training. This session is intended for students and researchers with deeper interest in species distribution modeling, GIS, range and diversity modeling and who wish to build skills in scripting, data management, and analysis methods used in Biodiversity Informatics.  Working with Lifemapper, participants will be guided through data intensive methods, workflows, and application programming interfaces that PRAGMA members and others are helping to make available to the international community . We will explore the Lifemapper infrastructure, and demonstrate how this tool and others can be deployed on local, regional, and international computational infrastructure. This tutorial will be held in Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia.

We look forward to welcoming you in IPB Bogor and UI Depok on 5-7 October , 2015!
